This book presents the Badrinath Masterplan Project as a forward-looking effort to envision one of India’s most sacred pilgrim centres, honouring its sanctity with thoughtful purpose. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, Badrinath—home to the revered Shri Badrinarayan Temple revived by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th century—has long been a beacon of faith, spirituality, and cultural continuity. Yet, the increasing pilgrimage pressure and unplanned urban growth have challenged its fragile Himalayan ecosystem and spiritual sanctity. Through this publication, the project is documented not merely as an infrastructural upgrade but as a holistic framework for renewal—one that honours the sacred geography, restores environmental balance, and enhances the pilgrim experience.
