Research transforms data into design intelligence, Shaping a greener future
INI Design Studio believes that meaningful research and accessible knowledge-sharing form the backbone of transformative design. Over the years, our research initiatives and publications have grown into a living archive that traces the evolution of sustainable architecture, planning, and engineering in India and beyond — shaping conversations that push the profession toward more responsible, human-centered development.
Green Buildings of India Series Launched in 2014 as a limited-edition biennial series, the Green Buildings of India and Green Built Environment publications have expanded into six volumes published between 2014 and 2025. Together, they chronicle the Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) journey with pioneering, green-rated projects across the country. Each edition presents detailed case studies that capture design innovation, environmental performance, and the sensitivity required to create buildings that respond to climate and context — strengthening India’s position as a global leader in green infrastructure planning.
Curated and led by INI’s research and publication team in collaboration with CII–IGBC, the series documents:
- Architectural innovation — passive design strategies, adaptive reuse, and sensible use of sustainable materials.
- Environmental performance — measurable outcomes in energy and water savings, waste reduction, and biodiversity enhancement.
- Human experience — improvements in comfort, health, and overall well-being.
- Collaborative excellence — the combined efforts of clients, architects, consultants, and engineers in shaping truly green projects.
Building on this foundation, INI continues to strengthen its reputation as a leader in sustainability research and innovation. Our current work explores Net Zero Carbon pathways, climate-resilient urbanism, and human-centric design approaches that respond to emerging environmental and social challenges. By grounding our studies in evidence and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to inform policy, empower communities, and help define the next chapter of sustainable development in India.
Through these ongoing initiatives, INI remains committed to pushing boundaries — creating work that integrates innovation, inclusion, and impact at every scale.
