Aquatic Gallery at Science City

Being an inland site, the design for Aquatics Gallery came with its own challenges. The building, designed in a shell shape is intended not only as symbolic representation of the aquatic life, but also as a form that allows connectivity and free movement. The aquarium has three water types - fresh water, brackish water and salt water that are sequentially demonstrated by creating “water worlds”, by location. These are Indian Rivers, South East Asia, Africa, The Americas and Indian Ocean. Worth noting with emphasis is the importance of back of house spaces for the servicing of the tanks and associated living environments of the various species.

Dumas Sea Face Masterplan

Envisioned as a recreational civic space for the city by the Surat Municipal Corporation, the city’s popular Dumas beach where the Tapi River meets the Arabian Sea was sought to be accordingly developed. The INI team, after thoroughly surveying and analysing the existing situation on and around Dumas beach, worked out a four pronged proposal to develop it as a recreation and leisure destination for citizens as well as tourists. Replete with multifarious recreational opportunities, this beach development aimed to rejuvenate the beach, realign the city towards a sustainable development course and re-connect the citizens with their natural heritage over land and sea.

Aalloa Hills Residence

This net-zero residence rises from a natural plateau overlooking the Sabarmati River. Precision in geometry balances built and open realms, enabling light, breeze, and vegetation to flow seamlessly. Its stark white exterior, offset by black stone flooring, contrasts the plateau and forest, while minimalist interiors fashion a comfortable, unobtrusive space where colours of landscape and artwork are celebrated year-round.
