Calangute Beach, Goa, India
A Dialogue with Land and Sea
Situated near the picturesque Calangute Beach, the Resort @ Goa is designed as a harmonious blend of nature, culture, and modern hospitality. Set within a 75,000 sq.ft. contoured site at historic Pinto’s Vaddo, the hotel masterfully follows the natural gradients, ensuring minimal disruption to the existing topography while capturing panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Designed with a deep respect for the site’s inherent character, the built form steps along the slopes, embracing the contours rather than resisting them. A central courtyard forms the vibrant heart of the architectural narrative, creating a natural microclimate, encouraging social interaction, and ensuring that the outdoors remain ever-present throughout the hotel experience. By anchoring the plan around this green oasis, the design achieves both environmental sensitivity and a timeless, place-based identity.

An Architectural Language that weaves Tradition and Modernity
The architecture of the Resort @ Goa articulates a delicate balance between contemporary elegance and vernacular charm, creating a built environment that resonates with the spirit of Goa. The material palette chosen reinforces this dialogue — while steel and glass lend the structure a sense of modern lightness and transparency, the extensive use of locally sourced laterite stone grounds it firmly in Goan tradition. This warm, tactile stone not only connects the building visually to its natural context but also serves as a sustainable choice, providing thermal insulation against the tropical climate. Accents of basalt in the landscape further enrich the materiality, ensuring resilience against the coastal environment. As guests move through the property, from the inviting entrance portal through to the lobby and into the spacious, private rooms, they experience an architecture that is at once sophisticated and deeply rooted, a seamless merging of innovation with a reverence for place.

A Spatial Experience flowing with Light, Views, and quiet Luxury
Each of the 125 elegantly appointed guest rooms, spread across three gently rising levels, opens onto a private balcony that frames curated views of either the central courtyard or the vast Goan landscape beyond. The circulation through the hotel is intuitive and fluid, connecting all key areas—lobby, retail, banquet, dining, and guest rooms—through a network of light-filled corridors and shaded verandahs. The public areas unfold around the courtyard, fostering an atmosphere of openness and community, while the banquet hall, connected to a lush lawn, becomes the perfect venue for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations. Crowned by a striking rooftop infinity-edge swimming pool that stretches along the floorplate, the hotel offers a breathtaking panorama of the Arabian Sea, transforming leisure into a cinematic experience. Complemented by an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop café, and a well-equipped fitness center, every space within the hotel flows effortlessly, celebrating Goa’s intrinsic spirit of conviviality and relaxed luxury.

Embedding environmental intelligence into every sensory and spatial choice
Passive design strategies, such as the placement of courtyards, shaded balconies, and building orientations attuned to natural breezes, ensure reduced energy consumption while enhancing guest comfort. The choice of laterite stone as a primary cladding material brings not just aesthetic warmth but also vital thermal mass, mitigating the tropical heat without dependence on intensive mechanical cooling. Landscape design focuses on native plant species that thrive in Goa’s coastal conditions, reinforcing biodiversity and requiring minimal maintenance. Rainwater harvesting systems and optimized mechanical services reflect an integrated approach towards sustainable operations. Every design decision—be it material, form, or function—works toward creating a hotel that breathes with its environment, respects the cultural memory of its place, and offers an experience that is as enriching as it is restorative.
