Surat’s Dumas Beach is undergoing a major transformation into a world-class eco-tourism destination through the Dumas Sea-Face and Eco-Tourism Park Project. The project, designed by INI Design Studio, spans 152 hectares along five kilometers of coastline with modern amenities like promenades, cycling tracks, and EV charging stations. The beach now attracts over 25,000 daily visitors, up from its former status as a local picnic spot. Tourists and locals have praised the development for creating attractive public spaces and livelihood opportunities.

At IDA – IIID Design Atelier, organized by the IIID Ahmedabad Chapter, Ar. Jayesh Hariyani, led an engaging session on “The Business of Architecture & Design – Building a Profitable, Scalable and Enduring Practice.”

Drawing from over three decades of experience, Jayesh shared practical insights on running and growing a design practice—from fee structures, contracts and scope management to financial discipline, leadership, delegation, brand building and long-term institutional growth. The session encouraged participants to look beyond design excellence and embrace the systems, strategy and business acumen needed to build practices that are both meaningful and sustainable.
